Beech-Nut Nutrition

The Beech-Nut Company was founded in 1891 as the Imperial Packing Company, producing smoked hams and bacon. The company quickly diversified into many food products and became known for its high quality standards. Beech-Nut began making baby food in 1931.

From the beginning Beech-Nut was an industry innovator. They were the first to put baby food in glass jars, when everyone else was using lead-soldered metal cans. Over the years, the company had many other firsts, including removing salt from all baby food, making it easier for parents to follow the recommendations of the American Academy of Pediatrics by using the Beech-Nut Stages System, and offering the first complete line of baby food with no unnecessary additives.

The company recently introduced the first baby food with DHA, and important nutrient naturally occurring in breast milk that helps support the mental and visual development of your child. The company is still located in Canajoharie, New York, on the site of its first factory building.
