Hummel's
Hummel's opened for business in the village of Herkimer in 1940,
as Excello Office Supply. In this small shop, they repaired typewriters
and sold typing paper, ribbons, and other typing supplies. Sixty
years later, the company has nine divisions, six retail business
centers, approximately 99 fulltime and part-time partners, and
twelve trucks used for deliveries in a fourteen-county area.
The new Hummel's Office Plus store in Herkimer opened in 1996
as a one-stop shopping experience. The main floor expanded from
2,500 to 6,000 square feet with office machines and furniture
and a special emphasis on the home computer furniture market.
