Redco
The Little Falls facility of Redco Company produces almost all
of the Red Rose, Salada, and Junket brand products in the United
States. Peter C. Larkin founded the Salada Tea Company in Canada
in 1892 and introduced a metal foil package for loose teas that
set the packages trend for the entire tea industry.
In a series of mergers, the company acquired the "Junket"
brand of rennet products from Chr. Hansen Laboratories in 1958.
Danish-born Hansen was the first manufacturer to produce a commercial
rennet product, essential for the making of a uniform., quality
cheese. He located in Little Falls, New York in 1890 to be close
to the center of the American dairy industry. At that time, Little
Falls was the largest inland cheese market in the country.
Additional company mergers brought Salada and Junket to Redco,
a firm that holds the exclusive rights to the U.S. Red Rose trademark.
